Rescue Diver
Junior Rescue Diver
In-water rescue skills! PADI Rescue Diver and Junior Rescue Diver courses are where you learn how to be prepared for and respond to diver stress and potential dive emergencies. The fun part about this course is rising to challenges and mastering them. Most divers find this course both demanding and rewarding, and at the end, say it’s the best course they’ve ever taken.
Course Prerequisites
• Certified as a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver or PADI Junior Advanced Open Water Diver (or equivalent) ... OR ... PADI Adventure Diver or PADI Junior Adventure Diver (must have completed Underwater Navigation dive)
• Rescue Diver: Minimum age 15
• Junior Rescue Diver: Minimum age 12
What You Will Learn
“Challenging” and “rewarding” best describe the PADI Rescue Diver course. Building upon what you’ve already learned in your Open Water and Advanced Open Water training, the Rescue Diver course expands on what you already know about how to prevent problems and how to manage them if they occur.
Performance Requirements
PADI scuba diving certification training is performance-based, not time-based. To achieve certification, you will need to:
• Complete (5) Knowledge Development segments, including final exam. This can be done in our classroom or through PADI eLearning online.
• Demonstrate skills from the Self-Rescue Review.
• Demonstrate skills from Rescue Exercises 1-10 in open water.
• Participate in Rescue Scenarios 1 and 2 in open water.
• Prepare an emergency assistance plan for a dive site.
Course Format
Rescue Diver courses are typically run with a weeknight/weekend format. Knowledge Development sessions are typically conducted on two weeknight evenings and Open Water training is conducted on a subsequent weekend.
Course Schedule & Cost
Rescue Diver courses are conducted through the dive stores that I work with, including VIP Diving. Please check their websites for the most current Rescue Diver training schedules and course costs. |
