PADI Fish Identification Diver
Know your fish! Diving in temperate or tropical oceans exposes you to multitudes of beautiful and diverse fishes. Knowing fish families, specific fish species, their habitats and behaviors adds to your diving experience. As a diver, you can anticipate fish behavior, look for unique species and contribute to valuable fish surveys to help monitor the health of the reefs in your favorite diving locations.
Course Prerequisites
• PADI Open Water Diver, PADI Junior Open Water Diver or equivalent
• Minimum age 10
What You Will Learn
You will learn to identify the most common fish families and specific species of fish found in temperate and tropical waters throughout the world, including how to organize and conduct fish identification surveys, including habitats and populations. The course focuses on fish families and species found in the local diving environment.
Performance Requirements
PADI Fish Identification Diver specialty course certification training is typically conducted with a brief classroom session followed by two open water training dives. To achieve certification, you will need to:
• Participate in the classroom training session and complete the Fish Identification Knowledge Review provided by your instructor.
• Complete (2) Fish Identification training dives with a PADI Fish Identification Instructor.
Course Format
PADI Fish Identification specialty courses are typically conducted at local dive sites. Your classroom session & two PADI Fish Identification Diver specialty training dives can be completed in one day.
